Weekly Assignment 12
Although leaders of the Civil Rights Movement--like Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.--made important contributions to overturning the system of segregation in the United States, so did many people who are largely unmentioned in history textbooks. After watching the brief film clip from Freedom Riders, and considering what you've read in the textbook and what was discussed in class, answer the following question in a 2-3 page paper, due Tuesday, November 22: Why did blacks and whites willingly put their lives on the line to integrate the South? Have they succeeded?
