Dr. Strangelove, Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb is both a cinematic classic (ranking 39th on this year's
American Film Institutes Top 100 Films of All-Time), and a document of its time--released at the heighth of the Cold War in 1964. The attitudes that it makes fun of, however, prevailed in the political arena for much of the next 40 years. What does this tell us about the relationship between art and politics? Do you ever expect to see such a film lampooning (making fun of) the War on Terror? Why?
